The best car accessories you can buy on new app Temu
Temu is the newest online shopping superstore taking Australia by storm since launching in March, and it’s like stepping into a world you never even knew existed. The products on there range from absolutely ridiculous to why-didn’t-I-think-of-that helpful, and they’re all incredibly cheap.
Temu gets compared to other online shopping sites like Shein and Wish but it could be compared to Amazon, with its vast array of items available, just cheaper.
We’ve combed through the app and found eight of the best car accessories under $15 and put them to the test to see if they actually work. It’s also worth mentioning the products arrived after nine business days directly from China.
Magnetic phone holder – $3.48
With new laws in NSW and Victoria stating phones must be “secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle” it’s never been more important to have a good phone holder. This magnetic one does the trick. Simply clip it onto the air conditioning vent, then stick the extra strong magnet to the back of your phone and you’re set.
Car doorstep – $12.67
Car roof racks are handy, but reaching them often results in dirty footprints on the side of your seat. This foldable car doorstep solves that problem. Simply hook it onto the door lock and you’ve got an instant solid step. Made of aluminium alloy, it has a maximum weight-bearing capacity of 150kg and is extremely strong. It folds flat so can easily be stored in the glove box when not needed.
Rear seat hook – $2.58
This handy little device hooks around the front headrest to provide extra storage for rear seat passengers. The four hooks double as storage for hanging bags or umbrellas and phone holders to watch movies on your phone hands-free.
Car pocket organiser – $6.17
Hanging snuggly between the two front seats, this car tote bag is the perfect place to keep handbags off the floor or store tissue boxes, large drink bottles or snacks. It’s light yet sturdy, and the black colour blends in seamlessly. Just give the bag a few days to lose its fake leather smell before installing it.
Car cleaning goo – $3.99
A unique cleaning tool, this gooey gel soaks up dirt and dust in all those hard-to-reach places. Simply roll it around in every little nook and cranny in your car and it will pick up everything it touches. It doesn’t leave any residue, however, it isn’t reusable, so don’t use it all in one go! It’s one of many items going viral on TikTok for car cleaning hacks.
5 port charger – $3.98
Simple yet handy, save arguments and keep all your devices charged with this five-in-one USB charging device that plugs into the cigarette lighter or 12v socket.
Window cleaning brush – $3.48
Keep your interior clean with this long-handled cleaning brush. The 180° rotation makes it easy to clean the entire windscreen, dashboard, windows and rear vision mirrors without leaving your seat. It worked especially well to defog rear vision mirrors on frosty mornings.
